What is the magical element of a yoga practise? Movement with awareness, intention and breath.

Through this union, asana (physical postures) flow as a divine dance, a meditation, prayer.

There are many 'types' of yoga out there but for me its simply yin or yang. Stillness and introspection, pooling prana or chi: moon-like. Or flow, strength, dynamism, circulating the prana: honouring the sun. We need both.

The yoga mat is the microcosm of your life; we create space to explore the 'samskaras' (karmic tendencies) and make peace with our amazing bodies.

Breath is at the heart of yoga and life; linking the inner and outer worlds, teaching us to receive and let go.

The breath is the vehicle of prana or chi, the life force, through which we can expand our energy levels, direct our awareness, deepen our consciousness and facilitate release.

My own meditation practise for many years has been Babaji's Kriya Yoga, which centres on the breath. I love to work with chanting which the most divine pranayama we can share!

Sound is an ancient approach to meditation, transformation & healing. Based on the understanding that the universe is an interconnected web of vibration and, as the universe in miniature, so are we (every cell, bodily part, thought).

Receiving (or making) 'sacred' or natural sounds helps re-align all the parts of ourselves - physical body, energy system, mind, capacity for wisdom & bliss. Sound leads us into deeper states of consciousness: those of wholeness, silence, self healing. It also brings pure rest & relaxation (which we could all use more of!).

I work intuitively with large elemental, symphonic & planetary gongs as well as himalayan bowls, crystal bowls, natural sounds, shruti & voice. Each experience or journey is unique to what you need in that moment; to your question or intention.

When we centre ourselves in the heart of awareness we meet a stillness, knowing, just being. Whether its sound, breath, movement, nature, food, whatever inspires you...follow it; take time to be here.
